Elise was telling me today about how a bunch of the girls in her class love the Twilight movies. Elise is only in third grade so I was a bit taken aback. She said that one of the girls stayed up late to go see the midnight showing of the latest movie with her mom. I said "Now this is an eight year old girl in your class right?" She said, "Yes, everyone in my class is all like 'I'm Team Edward, I'm Team Jacob.'" I was waiting for her to ask if she could watch the movies when she said, "Honestly, the whole thing kind of sounds stupid to me. It takes this girl four books to decided whether she wants to date a werewolf or a vampire." That's my girl!
True confession time: I somehow got sucked into reading all four books. I don't know what happened, but I just couldn't put the books down while giggling the whole time about the fact that I was reading a book about vampires. When the werewolves were introduced I had to laugh at myself some more, but I finished all four books. The movies are a different story though. I tried to watch the first one but had to turn it off because even though I spent hours reading the books, seeing it on the big screen seemed too vampiry to me.
